Parys golf course was designed by Cobie LeGrange, it tests the playing ability of golfers
while offering them beautiful vistas of the Vaal River. The club hosts weekday and
weekend competitions.
Vaal de Grace golf course gives visitors a unique golf experience in every respect, on an
Island surrounded by the waters of the mighty Vaal on Nick Price’s 1st signature golf
course in South Africa. This course spans two Provinces, and boasts excellent facilities
complimented by top class service.
The “Crater Cruise” mountain bike event: The entire Crater Cruise route is in the
middle of South Africa’s latest World Heritage Site. Here the remnants of a meteorite that struck the earth, 2 023 000 years ago,
have formed what is now known as the Vredefort Dome Heritage Site. The result of this mighty impact is a mountainous area
with a river flowing right through the middle, and these are the oldest mountains on earth. Riders can choose between the
101km, 56km, 28km & 15km mountain bike events The Crater Cruise is famous for that sting in the tail. To participate in the

The Vaal River, which stretches about a kilometre wide at Parys, is dotted with willow tree islands, on one of which has been
built a 9 hole golf course. Visitors can also choose between a variety of Hiking Trails taking them into the hilly countryside
surrounding Parys incorporating game viewing, bird spotting, viewing the remains of diamond diggings along the river and
exploring the many battle sites within the vicinity.
Parys was established in 1876 by the Van Coller brothers on Klipspruit Farm. The town was romantically named by its surveyor,
Schilbach, who was reminded of the French town of Paris, which was similarly situated along the banks of a large river.
